Black pepper is contracted on bulk density — 500, 550 or 570 g/l — because density tracks berry maturity and therefore the extractable content a buyer is really paying for. Specify it as a tested minimum against a named method, not as a description. The Tellicherry garbled grades TGSEB and TGEB are sieve-size designations, 4.8 mm and 4.25 mm respectively. We publish piperine, volatile oil and oleoresin as varietal research ranges rather than as contract warranties, because the spread across released Indian varieties is wide — piperine alone runs from about 1.65% to 6.6% — and quoting a single figure as a guarantee is how suppliers end up in claims they cannot defend. If your process needs a specific piperine floor, we agree it against a lot assay. Karnataka, not Kerala, is now India’s largest producing state by volume. Moisture is dried below 10% before storage; above 12% the lot becomes susceptible to fungal attack.
